Message grzfm the Principal just as schools are not made of brick and mortar, annuals such as this are not just pages of print and pictures. For a school to be truly great, it must have a spirit, and maybe even a soul-a spirit created and nurtured by a dedicated staff and a student body hungering, not only for the mastery of fundamentals, but for the promotion of high and noble ideals. To be great in time, as this annual is destined to be, it must capture the thrills of honors and activi- ties which will reflect for all time to come the achievements and experiences of those who now call themselves students. And so my message must be a challenge to you to build for yourselves a foundation composed of the mastery of facts tempered with the proper appreciation for high ideals, democratic principles, and a Christian character so basic to the continuance of our demo- cratic way of life to the end that the reflections in this book may be worth the time and effort expended in its preparation. John T. Sasser
