'ffff 7 What a bunch of proud scared Freshmen we made It was Just as the twentleth century reached the half way mark that we launched our hrgh school careers Its a shame that there had to be upper classmen around to make us feel our newness Boy we were new' And how' Yet berng young and rmpressronable we drdn t take long to realrze that we could learn from our superrors and that we had better grve heed to all of the well meanrng advrce rf we were to make rt through four years' And whom drd we select to be our fledglrng spokesmen 'J There was Larry Langdon who served as our class presrdent Chrrs Kanos v1ce presrdent Jean Hon secretary and Lourse Howell treasurer Those who represented us rn the great governrng body of our new school the Student Councrl were Jacque Hall Carolyn Huff Larry Langdon Dorothy Langford Carolyn Mayo John Shaw and Martha Wrllrford It was wlthout mrshap that we emerged the followrng fall as Sophomores Now wrth the shrny newness worn off we returned rn 1951 to resume our labors Not exactly rn the same posrtron as we had been rn durrng the prevrous year but a llttle wrser a lrttle more tolerant Our omcers that year were John Shaw presrdent Llbert Brady vrce presrdent Jerry Rrchardson secretary and Stanley Grrlfrn treasurer Our student councrl representauves were Jonn Srraw Anne Smrth Johnny Raper Larry Langdon and Brlly tnow as a senror rts Bzllr Faucette Now we werent satrsfied wrth berng merely rn hrgh school but how we envred those uppe1 classmenf Frnally we were Junrors At last we felt really and truly a part' The Junror Senror Banquet was our responsrbrlrty our seats rn as sembly were much rmproved and we had a brand new prrncrpal to assrst us The walls even had fresh parnt Yep rt defrnrtely was wrth a reelrng of prrde and antrcrpatron that we set about gettmg our hrgh school educatron wound up It was also our duty to secure the funds that would finance our annual banquet Thrs we drd by sponsorrng the Mrss FHS Contest lt proved to be a g eat success under the competent drrectron of our class presrdent J P Hales Our other officers that year were Jane Methvrn vrce presrdent Anne Smrth secretary and Joel Johnson treasurer Our student councrl representatrves were Graye Johnson Merry Brown Della Smith Joel Flershman and John Shaw We chose as our theme for the banquet Stardust I belreve we can safely say that It was a success It was wrth many pleasant memorres that we closed the year Senzors' Stand back make way' We had clrmaxed our Junror year by electrng Peter Soule Presrdent of the Student Councrl and Graye Johnson vrce presrdent mln the brggest brt ol campargnrng weve ever had more fun'J and Elbert Brady presrdent of our class Jane Methvrn xrce presrdent Della Smrth secretary and Janet Lewrs treasurer Our student councrl representatrves were Ann Eller Graye X?
