In a few brief joyous years Mary Fields achieved what the average person aspires to have after a long and successful lifetime: many friends, a reputation for usefulness and dependability, and a record of golden deeds, Her lovely smile, charming personality, sweetness of spirit, energy and enthusiasm, unselfishness and thoughtfulness, love of wholesome fun, and ready adaptability which endeared her to many will live on and on. Her influence, therefore will remain like a benediction to inspire others to rich fulfilment5 and Mary Fields, beautiful and lovable, is treasured in our memory. To live in hearts we leave behind Is not to die.

Page Tzvelve 7a Um eaafefza As you turn the pages of this 1949 LAFAMAC, remem- ber that it is a history of our school and community this year. The advertisements show what 'business firms are functioning and the rest of the book records our various school activities and the persons involved. The theme, Our School, is brought out in the introductory pages to the five divisions. Other pages enumerate our achievements, hopes, and leaders. The class ring, which every graduate is proud to Wear, is a symbol of beauty and effort to all who own itg therefore we proudly feature it on our cover. VVe sincerely hope that now and in later years this history will be a pleasure to all who read it. BETSY LAWRENCE Editor in Chief
