ill HHHE ll llllll ll llllill To you from failing huiids ice throui The torch: be yours to hold it high. lt is with genuine and heart-felt pride that we dedicate this 1945 L.-xFAM,xc' to former members of Fayetteville High School student body who have made the supreme sacrifice, and from whose hands we catch the burning torch. Be ours to hold it high. It is our purpose to record a brief history of our school and to pay tribute to those individuals who have helped to make the history of Fayetteville High School one which we may view with appreciation. Be- cause it is our desire that our school shall be a source of pride to our community, to our parents and teachers. by the activities herein recorded, we hope to stimulate in the hearts of the students loyalty and ambition. As we have worked and studied together we have reached a better under- standing of one another and a greater appreciation for the abilities of our fellow students. It is our purpose to inform the public and the patrons of our school, our parents. and other citizens of our community of the work we have accomplished throughout the year. Through the careful guidance and devotion to duty of our teachers. we have been able to achieve many things. even in these war-torn years. for which service we are deeply grateful. VVe hope that through the years to come. the history recorded here will be a source of pleasure to the students who have helped to make it. Let us remember and practice the ideals set for us by those to whom this book is dedicated. May we take the theme of this year's annual- Be oufrs to hold it high -as a challenge in all that we do. Then we can feel that these stalwart Americans did not die in vain. -PEGGY IWGFFITT fQl1l'I'l'l N
