She IS now facing the court Well behold our classmate Margaret Britt' She has discovered a racing turtle and IS now working in the zoo The newspaper IS vanishing I can read no more of it This is a queer place I see It looks like a Fair but it isnt Oh yes' Its Coney Island I see Julia Strmgileld painting a bill board sign It reads Eat Foods That Are Pure and Wholesome She IS getting along fine I know Eliza Rose and Mildred Poe are talking together Eliza says Im worn to a nub because I married a poor country boy and have to work from early dawn to dusk Mildred says that she too lives on a farm and gracefully climbs trees looking for persimmons Look who runs the Ferris Wheel Its Sara Butler She seems to be having great tun by this means of earning her meals recognize as the leader but John Armfield Among the performers I see Ella Brown pufhng away on a saxophone and Jewel Cheshire IS playing a violin Mildred Hornel bangs violently on a huge drum Bernard Rose is playing a horn that seems to be about twice his size The dancers are now taking their places on the iloor John Wilson and Thelma Walker are acting as host and hostess Mary Ella sits in a corner ravine madly Her soda Jerklng husband is late again Joe McBennett is pushing his way through the mob He wears a policeman s uniform I can see them no longer The scene is changing again I am gazing at a familiar little city The same old Market House Bank Building and Hotel Yes its dear old Fayetteville Well at last Fayetteville has a public library Bill Atchely George Carter Emily Cutts and Hilda Herdon are the librarians Would you have dreamed it Will you look at our friends in the court room? The judge is William Darden Thmk of it' James Atkinson IS the solicitor He says that Doris Holmes is guilty of alienation of affection Mrs Ellis Lewis formerly Miss Margaret Benge is bringing the suit against her Henry DeVane is council for the defense Hayden Horne is wearing a. sheriffs badge I never would have thought lt' Do I see Wanda Henry or IS it someone else? No its Wanda and she 1S wearing a policewomans suit. On the cap Chief is written. What is there about that little shop that catches my eye? My I see now. Its a beauty parlor run by Elizabeth Martindale and Emily Hodge. Through the window I see Louise Clements Margaret Buie and Nellie Holt. I feel sure they are operators. Louise tells Nellie of Dixon Marshs return from Paris where he has been designing styles for the latest Parisian creations. His model Ruth Covington stays there for the summer. Margaret says that Bill Corbett has just finished his book on Philosophy and the Modern Woman. ' Nellie suddenly pipes up and ays Have you heard that Doctors Charles Turner and Roscoe Strickland have discovered a new drug that absolutely cures the gout in nine days? Look at Katherine Suggs if you will! What a career she has chosen! She stands on her feet all day selling Standard Gasoline. A little Hot Dog stand is across the street. Can you imagine Joe Pinkston using this as a means of making a living? John McBennett walks to the stand. A little girl is holding tightly to his finger. He takes the curly haired child in his arms and says Now Doris Rose the Second are you sure you want a doughnut? The scene is changing again. Dear old Fayetteville grows dimmer and dimmer. There is nothing left but the small cloud. Father Time: Yes, the small cloud is all there is left. You are to see no more. Class: Well, my! You don't know how much fun I have had. I can never thank you enough. It is growing late now and I must be going. Good bye, Father Time. Father Time: So class, I bid you adieu, And wish you all success. The lights of Broadway are dancing merrily. Dear me listen while I read this: Sears and Ifitzhugh Broadways Dancing Team! Chorus girls are going in the side door of the great theater. Among them are Zelma Barrett Beatrice Wilkie Kat'y Tew Grace McGill Julia Wooten Katherine Mullininx and Elizabeth Morris. David Pemberton is following these but surely he isnt a chorus girl. He is carrying a banjo and does he look like a million dollars in that tall silk hat? Ill say he does! lfather Time: I see a newspaper and the headlines glare me in the face. Ill read them Audrey Romeo Has Broken a World-Wide Record Being First to Swim the Atlantic. Emily Wright is now teaching expression at 'Columbia University. The Drama Club has staged a number of plays under her direction. Alease has put Wrigley out of business. She has established Maultsby's Chewing Gum Factory, and even Mrs. John enjoys its delicate minty flavor. June Williams has just completed his first play, You Egg. It is to be staged by the Ed Herring Producing Company under the direction of Mary Jane Causar. Constance Patten is to be the star and Jimmie Bradley is to play opposite her. The other charac- ters are portrayed by Alex Bowles, Grissom Davis, Arthur Fitzhugh, John Kelly, Gene Harlan, Virginia Price, Josephine Jones, Edna Howell, and Mary Scott. Doctors Ben Robinson, Charlie Palmer, and John Sandrock have built one of the finest hospitals in the South, at Pinehurst. The plans for the structure were drawn up by Shields Croker, one of the foremost architects of the age. Reverend C. A. Thomas is pastor of the Riverside Church in New York. A revival is going on at this time and Richard Ryan is conducting the music in an able manner. ' Eliza Faison Cromartie and Lucille Doster have recently organized a Federal Debating Society, of which Tom Tolar is the president. The club is composed of debators from various parts of the United States who are interested in world affairs.
