Administration Classes Sports Activities Features DEDICATIO C LENDAR For S36 FHS students school life began once more on September 15. The Sophomore Guides briefed 155 freshmen on the particularsof life at FHS in a special orientation convocation September lO. New StudentCoun- cil representatives were installed by president Deryl Powers September 21. Hlet's get acquaintedu was the theme of the first Student Council party, October S. NHS initiated 13 seniors on October 18. The Gay Nineties returned Oct- ober 23 in the yearbook benefit show. Members of the 26 Club, their dates, and faculty guests attended the annual picnic at Harmc' Field October 29. The election unit, sponsored by the American Gov- ernment Glass, climaxed in tm victory of Conservatives at the polls November 2. The traditional homecoming party, bonfire, and parade to the square took olace November h, with Football Queen Roselyn Baker reigning over the festivities. Fayettevilkewas upset by Spring- dale in the homecoming tilt. Marjorie Hammond, Pat Danner, and Ann Barrett were delegates to the Southern Association of Student Councils Convention held in Mobile, Alabama November 9-12. The Student Council Circus, complete with managerie, came to FHS November 2b. David Lashley and Cedric Pratt were elected co- captains of the 'h9 squad at the football banquet Dec- ember 3. The music classes, under direction of Mrs. Barnes, presented the operetta HA Christmas Caroln on December 17. The Student Council Christmas party took place December 20 in the gym festooned with holiday decorations. The Christmas holidays began December 22. On January 3,students returned to schoolto finish the semester. Color Day with the Pepper's spaghetti supper and the Van Buren basketball game fell on Jan- uary 20. Lorna Stokenbury was crowned basketball queen in a special pep convocatiom and reigned to the climax of the day when the Bulldogs beat Van Buren M9 to h2. The chewing of pencils began January 27 as flustered students racked their brains during exams. The second semester began January 31 with the Band Ranquet. Joan Greathouse and David George were crowned Rand King and Queen. 6 lx !! A week later, the Washington County Tournament was held at Root Gym. Five teachers presented a skit, HThe Bored Kingu at the school party February lB. The Bulldogs were the winne rs of the District Tour- nament at Fayetteville, March 3, B, and 5. They tra- veled to Littk2Rock for the St ll, and l2, winning the NAU Di tle, losing only in the undis game to North Little Rock. C ate Tournament March lO, strict Championship ti- puted state championship elebrating St. Patrick's Day, a tacky party with an Irish theme was held Marc- l5. The annual Basketball, Ba W. At long last the juricr-senior ac- tivities arrived with the Junior-Senior Banquet and- Dance, May 25, at the Uark Bowl. The upperclassman picnic took place Nay 27, 'hen .'.' the juniors and seniors gallavanted off for a day cf fun. Baccalaureate Ser- vice was held on Hay 29. Eager seiiors tick their ex- ams May 31. The Will and Prophecy of the Class of l?l9 were read C: Class Day, June 1. Final exams for the rest of the students were tfken on June 2. The seiisrs said farewell to FHS as they received their diplomas 1: June 3. Try- on Lewis led the scoring by making 3 touchdowns in the fivetimes he carried the pigskin. Rich- ard Holt, Pat Steele, aniFred Curtis backed him up with 2 counters each. FAYETTEVILLE S3 ALMA O Lewis again turned in 3 touchdowns and Holt, M oon, and Steele added to the total. Joe Rob- inson turned in a fine MO-yard pass to Lewis for a touchdown and the best play of the night. Holt turned a sensational 52-yard sideline to sideline run to the goal. FAYETTEVILLE 3h SILOAM SPRINGS 6 The Dogs took to theair to wrest their third victory from Siloam. Robinson did passing. Lewis was again high point more counters to his credit. The squad adopted a creed and chose pins which members received in a candlelight service January 25. On January 20, over lOO persons attended the annual spaghetti suoper. A rummage sale February 19 raised additional funds. Throughout the year the Peppers put on spe- cial convocations in cooperation with the Rand and the Cheerleaders.
