Qlass 551:-inrg' STRIKE ONE With the opening of school in 19'-F8-149, a new class entered Fayette High School Bearing the name of 'Green Freshies , we began our game with the enrollment of thirty six students Tour of the students were new They were Paul Lloyd, Bill Woodard, Perle Robinson, and Bob Griswold At our first class meeting we chose Mr Jordon as our sponsor for the coming year Offi cers were elected as follows President, Ruth Blackburn Vice President, Wilma Jackson Sec retary Treasurer, Frances Leek B111 Woodard was our news reporter, or should we say copy boy because the girls did the writing We had our first class party on November 17 in the Home Ee room and our second party was held March ll in the Home lc room also Charles Benton who Joined the armed services, and Perle Robinson This left us with a. total of thirty three students to begin our second year of the game STRIKE TWO As the 19'-P9-50 school term opened we were all present with the exception of Jerry Reese Charles Kelsheimer and James ldlngton Claudia Russell Barbara Merritt, Leon Morris, and Kenneth Higgs ,joined us as new players in the game Therefore we had an enrollment of thirty four students We held our first class meeting in Hrs Miller-'s room s Miller was elected as class sponsor and the following officers were elected President, Leon Morris Vice President, Kenneth Higgs Secretary, Lulu Belle Haymker Treasurer, Ruth Blackburn lews Reporter, Gene Reese We all enjoyed a class party on the evening of October 7 in the Industrial Arts room With the close of school all thirty four students said their good byes with the hopes of seeing everyone as Juniors when the season re opened STRIKE 'LHREE Our Junior year began on the morning of August 29 1950. This was the year everyone was looking forword to. We had an enrollment of thirty students. During the summer we lost five students. These were Marvin Britton Cretlred from school, Billy Edington, also retired, Dorothy Haymaker, en rolled at Riley, Evelyn Headlo, now Mrs. Wallace Creamer, and Betty Wilson. We gained one student, Bill Walters. We were sorry to lose all these students, but we are wishing them all happiness in their future plans. We again elected Mrs. Miller as our sponsor and chose our class officers as follows. President, Ray Allen Cox: Vice President, Dale l unkhouser, Secretary Lulu Belle Haymakerg Treasurer, Ruth Blackburn- News Reporter, Barbara Kerritt. In October, Mrs. Miller and the U.S. History class, which consisted of all Juniors, went on a trip to Arcola Illinois. The class visited Bonnie Naugle's Uncle and was invited to a chicken dinner. Of course we accepted the invitation. We also visited a couple of factories and everybody enjoyed the trip very much. The next big event was our Junior Carnival for which everyone had been waiting. It was held on 0ctober l3 1950. With the help of the other students and some of the teachers, the Carnival was,a big success. We received our class rings on November 13, 1950. We were all delighted on their arrival. Before the arrival of our class rings we were sorry to lose Bob Griswold. He moved to Farmers- burg, but he still got a Fayette class ring. About two weeks before Christmas, we lost Clyde Cox and Harvey Gaston. 'mill left us with a totla of twenty seven students, but with the coming of the New Year, we welcomed Charles Welker, Mary Carter and Rene Jessup into our class. On April 20, we gave our class play, 'Brother Goose , in the gm. On April 18 we gave the play to the grades. Mrs. Florence Miller, Junior sponsor, directed the plzy.
