Some of you have known the satisfaction of doing your best in sports, the joy of excelling in class, the wonderful feeling of completing a job, and looking back on it and knowing that you have done your best. Again I remind you there is plenty of room at the top, but no room to sit down. Graduation is only a beginning. Tomorrow you will be faced with a different challenge - one that only death will terminate. Here's hoping that we have prepared you well, and that you may stand shoulder high with anyone and say with pride, "I am an alumnus of Fayette County High School. " Sincerely, MMM 6 Merlin O. Student Council Fayette County I-Iigh's slogan for 1968-1969 was "The Pathway to Greatness." The Student Cormcil did much to fulfill this goal as it engaged in many activities to further the welfare and attitudes of the students, faculty, administration, and community. With some of our finest athletic teams in years, school spirit was lifted by spirit contests and the sponsoring of student buses to events away from home. Students were given more voice by means of a suggestion box, and a student directory was printed as a service. A mock election was held on November 5 to prepare the students for their future role as citizens, and their present role was emphasized later in the year as former Governor Carl Sanders was brought in to speak. Many students were introduced to Christ in council-sponsored programs for this purpose, and the real facts concerning the dangers of smoking and other practices were presented. These activities and many others undertaken by the Student Council helped lead F.C.l-l.S. a few more steps along the pathway to greatness. And thus you will know why this is my prayer Oh, Lord, bring about the return of the Square! by: ROBERT L. SANDERS Assistant Superintendent Louisville Public Schools , ?
