Mr. Leo l. Long, We respectfully dedicate the 1957 PANTHER The sun will rise every day next year, and students will be enrolled and grad- uated. The Freshmen will notice nothing unusual, but certainly the rest of Father Ryan will become keenly aware of the absence of Mr. Leo Long, a man so much and so long a part of Father Ryan High School. Words cannot describe nor print capture the esteem with which the faculty and students regarded him. It was an esteem surpassed in sincerity only by the sorrow and sympathy which accompanied the news of his death in December of this year.

emnriam . . . . In Loving Memory of Mr. Herman F. Henkel and l l 4 i ! l v ll ll August of 1956 saw the death of Mr. Herman Henkel. Mr. Henkel bore the title of Custodian at Father Ryan for some twenty-five years. It was a title which described him as appropriately as Warm described the sun. His job knew no hoursg his tasks, no limits. He was an integral part of Father Ryan High School, a part which we can never replace. He is a man whom we will long miss and longer remember.

FCDREWCDRDN lf we have begun this year's PANTHER on a somber note, we would here sup- plant it with an atmosphere of warm feeling that you may better enjoy and more happily recall with us the events which have made this year a giant among school years.
