Mr. Richard Coley Social Studies Miss Sally Wilson Social Studies INTERNATIONAL PROBLEMS The world today with its many foreign and domestic problems demands that students through their Social Studies be taught to think in terms of the democratic ideals and principles of freedom which are their American heritage so that they will be ready to defend and strengthen their democracy against the dangers that threaten it. These are the goals set for the study of American History and P.A.D. World History gives DISCUSSED students a broadened background and appreciation of our American way of life. Finally, World Geography opens new horizons and presents a deeper under- standing of peoples living on foreign shores. English-French LITERARY TRADITIONS The literature program is designed to supply students with material for a wide-ranging study of styles, periods, ideas, and cultures. Knowledge and application of the rules of grammar and spelling receive special emphasis along with vocabulary de- velopment. Journalism' made its debut in the English Department this year with the hope that this course would help to improve language skills and the level of student composition.
