Wvard. .fanny Lv no aomjbri I0 one not Shakespeare' Social Committee Now as far I am concerned, there's nothing like a good old fashion dance, and I sure had a good time at B-V. Ive have a tradition here at B-V-Friday night record hops. The social Committee was respon- sible for the success of these soeials. They staged monthly Saturday night features accompanied by the musie of the Rebels.', Blany nights saw the committee decorating the gym, managing the coatroom and col- lecting tickets at the door. Their purpose of arousing an interest among stu- dents to get out and meet new friends was definitely accomplished. I know for I met countless friends and fell in love with each one. IYe here at Baker-Victory know that society makes the world. For sure, B-Y is a friendly, friendly world. I.l'lF'l' T0 RIGIIT: T. Morganti, J. Thomas, J. Downs, A. Mullmuer, M. K. Cantwell, M. I really enjoyed sitting in on the meet- ings of the Stamp and Coin club. The members had a grand time. The strange lands of the world became alive and real as their people. No longer were the peo- ples of the world strangers. The mem- bers and I resolved that to live the life of 'Uur IVorld, would be a step in the right direction when we begin our life in the world. Chess Club The students introduced me to another new member of the B-V world, the Chess club. Begin- nings are always difficult and so our players found themselves matched against seasoned teams in the Queen City League. Al- though outelassed, they felt se- cure in the fact that experience is still the best teacher. I looked on as they practiced and tried out new stratagems and I was convinced that they will become strong contenders. They're proud to say that they are doing their part to bring the eultural studies of fine words and Inusie into our Baker-Yietory Atlas. Beeause the elub had its start in the seeond seinester, they did not plan or prepare any speeial programs. I guess they were too shy! Presently they are eoneen- trating on developing their voiees. The singers, utiliz- ing two or three different voice parts, were singing a Variety of songs which range froin light folk songs to deeper religious hymns. However, from what I heard, I aln sure a we-ll pol- ished group will be filling the halls of li-Y with that good old fashion harmony. lx..I oynt, Xl. Skipper, F. Novak, Nl. llove.
