CL.-XSS HISTORY In the fall of 1955, a group of bewildered and confused Freshmen were introduced to Our Lady of Victory Academy and Father Baker High School. XYe were inaugurated into the busy sched- ule of high school life by effort, mistakes, and more eHort. Gradually, the awful feeling of being alone in a big room left us and we began to feel as though we really belonged. As we entered into our Sophomore year, we had a new-found confidence. The school was familiar and we knew our way around. YVe began the change from children to young men and women. By the middle of the year, we began to hear ru- morsg next year there would be one school to take the place of the two schools that we now occupied. And so in our junior year the big change took place. Father Baker High School and Our Lady of Victory Academy became Baker-Victory High School. lt was an experience we shall never forgetg sometimes trying and nerve-wracking, mostly fun and exciting, but never dull! Together we con- tinued on the road to maturity with the help of our inexhaustable faculty. Our advancement to- ward becoming men and women of whom our fam- ilies, country, and Church could be proud pro- gressed rapidly. Among the brightest memories of the year was our Junior Prom. On Friday evening, May 23, 1958, the Knights of Columbus club rooms were turned into a Moonlight Serenade. The music played on and on, and when it was over all agreed that it was truly a night to remember. After three years of hard work, we were Seniors! VVith our return to school we found another changeg the Holy Cross priests who served so well had left, and in their place we now had the Fran- ciscan Fathers. We enjoyed our briefstay with the Franciscans very much. VVe know that they, along with the Sisters of St. Joseph, will work unceas- ingly to make Baker-Victory a better school. Now we found ourselves at the top of the ladder. How fast our high school years had passed! The molding of our character was now complete and we were ready to take our place in the world. VVe will never forget this wonderful last year at Baker- Victory. As we look back on the year, there are many things that stand out in our minds. On No- vember 7, 1958, we had our Ring Ceremony in Our Lady of Victory Basilica. Here we received the class ring, symbolic of our four years of study and play at Baker-Victory. The following night was the Ring Dance, and then on May 22, 1959, the Senior Prom. Whenever we think of our Senior Senior Class Officers Sharon Vastola, Secretary, Grace Kazmierczak Vice-President, Army Leonetti, President, and Dan Aedo, Treasurer discuss plans for the prom. year, the prom will always be foremost in our minds. The Twentieth Century Club provided the setting, A Stairway to The Stars, and the Class of ,SQ provided the cast. No sooner was the prom over when we found final exams staring us in the face. These, too, we will never forget, although there are many of us who would like to! Now we look forward to the fulfillment of our high school years-graduation in the Basilica. As we receive our diplomas under the vigilant eyes of Our Blessed Lady of Victory, we pray that She will watch over us for the rest of our lives just as She has done these past four years. XYe will never forget Baker-Victory, for we know Baker-Victory will never forget us. 39
