TRAIN BLOWS THE BLUES When the subway tracks are embedded in my back Will you be there to wipe the frizzing rails? As rusted wheels begin to thaw, Will some of my oil fall on you? Every metal limb is seized from its track, The monsters trample on me. Will you be there to guide the spirit that Rushes to the station with gratitude, Dragging each disjointed part along, Transporting my load, laughingly sad? I wonder: Can you come here to awaken laughter, Wl1en locry 'iI:Ialt,,'lGy' 'fFaiI and FalteFf? R so When I call Shiver and Humanize, When I lose the blueprint of my free will? Everything looms up over my life, f jumping anxiously to discard pickled passengers, Leaving me finally here and free To forget my instructions, my rail code, free Guiding my own path, frozen no more, And I ask you to be with me, To calm the powerful, galloping winds, Rushing past stations until I find you, Waiting on a platform. Waiting for me? Waiting infinitely? Waiting for me? If at the end of a run we gently collide, Then gracefully with me you'll endlessly glide, And speed on to one station more, For us it is forevermore. - Mary Roper -
