Tommins Center-Rose Hranko Andrea Berish e 1,1 They must watch over 22 classrooms composed of, 4 Commercial rooms, 4 science laboratories, one library acquiring 200 new books yearly and receiving numerous periodicals, l mechanical drawing room, 4 industrial arts shops iwood, machine, electric and metallg admin- istrative offices of the superintendent of schools, Board of Education, principal, and secretaries, and one gym- nasium-auditorium combination with a seating capacity of 2500, a playing floor of llO feet x 75 feet, and an elevated stage of 95 feet x 75 feet, offset by a 60 foot arch above the floodlights. This is the school the maintenance staff must take care of--one of the most beautiful, best equipped, and foremost schools in Western Pennsylvania. The work of the two painters, one carpenter, one truck driver, six general maintenancemen is made easier by the use of the efficient, school owned equipment: three grasscutters, a tractor, two trucks, two buses, and other equipment. Our clerical staff is a group of hardworking girls and one man who work five days a week from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. They order all the school supplies, books, equip- ment, tablets, and pencils, pay all the bills and make the payroll. They say that 523,000 a year is spent on tablets and pencils. The school uses 4,200 pencils and 4,200 tablets each year. G' Jo Anne Elia, Patricia Wolgast, and Mrs. A. Mielcarek Our cafeteria staff is made up of seven permanent women workers and one part time worker, most of whom have been working for the school for five or more years, These ladies spend many hours daily preparing lunches for 650 students, 42 faculty members, and other em- ployees. The ladies are also on call to serve refresh- ments for special events, such as the Senior Class Breakfast, Open House, Hi-Y Banquet, and school parties. The school doctors, dentist and nurses are also on call or duty and provide medical attention for each student. Students of the eleventh grade receive com- plete physical examinations during the first semester, and reports of any unusual findings are given to the parents immediately. They are advised to see the family doctor. Also during the junior year, free dental examinations are given, with a written report on the condition of the teeth given to each student for his parents, urging the parents to have any defects taken care of. Also, this year, the entire student body received free TB X-rays. The school nurse is always on the job among the Farrell schools, and when she visits the Senior High she takes care of the endless toothoches, headaches, cuts and bruises of 700 busy people. Through the hard work and cooperation of all these people-the secretaries, the electrician, the carpenter, the painters, the cleaning ladies, the cafeteria staff, the truck driver, and everyone else who takes care of our house -the school is kept beautiful, clean, weltequipped, and a very enjoyable place in which to wor . They deserve the gratitude and appreciation of all the students, teachers, and everyone else in the city of Farrell, for helping to keep strong and beautiful the school that the people of Farrell built.
