ATIIJ AL HIQI UH SUIIIETY I-XNUAHY '44 The annual presentation of membership cards were awarded by the Honor Society to twenty qualifying students from the graduat- ing class on Friday, January 14, l944 during the 7th and 8th period in the Assembly Hall. Clad in ceremonial caps and gowns, the following received membership cards: Gladys Riha, ,lune Stiblo, Robert Mulacek, Vlasta Spacek, Elaine Stanek, Adeline Kadera, Lillian Florian, Helen Velek, Florence Svo- boda, Vilma Boubelik, Helen Vitous. Violet Soukup, Evelyn Pavlicek, Lorraine Husa, Lor- raine Zajicek. Eleanor Miller. Leo lVlclVlahon, George Nechuta. Kenneth Cowser, and Robert Garnett. The accustomed candle lighting ceremony was exercised while the speeches on Scholar- ship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Prayer were given by: Geraldine Zettek, presi- dent of Junior Honor Society, Mildred Hu- beny, president of Service Guild, Blanche Prucha, president of Student Guidance, Joseph Gabriel, president of Student Council, and Emily Hruby. lVlr. Peter B. Ritzma addressed the initi- ates in recognition of their high scholastic achievement and lVliss Mary Morgan adminis- tered the pledge. The Hungarian Dance No. 6 was played by Miriall Hlavac, violin soloist. The orches- tra, under the direction of lVlr. liouis Gregory, played the Legend, a tone poem by Merle J. Isaac. The Girls' Chorus sang I Am An American by Schuster, while the initiates marched out of the assembly carrying lighted candles. Page
