LITERARY COMM. PHOTOGRAPHY COMM. BUSINESS AND SALES COMM. ART AND ADVERTISING ENTIRE STAFF PLANS THE BOOK Books are the legacies that genius leaves to mankind, to be delivered down from generation to generation, are presents to those that are yet unborn. -Addison THE ANNUAL STAFF AT WORK From the first school day in September until the last Week in Iune the Annual Staff is kept in a hustle and bustle of Work and Worry. In September other annuals are carefully studied, for the styles change here, as Well as in hats. Next, all the pictures, Write-ups, features, etc., desired in the Log are listed. Conferences are held With the photographer, engraver and printer to decide just how much of this may be included in our Log and still keep within the budget. Then the various committees are formed. The Literary group searches for data on the Seniors, clubs and classes, writing, typing, copy and proofreading this rnaterialea long, tedious job. Business and Sales groups plan their campaign for making the school An- nual conscious, and plan Ways to raise money to pay for the engraving. Planning the schedule for the photographer is the job of the photography group which takes, ar- ranges, identifies pictures and snaps you when you are not looking. The art staff works out the art sections to fit the theme of the book. The Weary advertising committee seeks advertisers in every nook and corner. And then the entire staff leaps in, to sort and distribute its precious Workethe Log, long about the Week before school closes, gathers up the bills, pays them and sighs with relief that the year is at an end.

CCNCERT BAND Organized four years ago, the Concert Band has grown from thirty to ninety mem- bers. Maintaining the lead it gained under Mr. Ioseph Grill, it again earned the rating of Superior in the City Contest this Spring under the expert leadership of Mr. M. Acker- man. In the finals, the Band was chosen with Lane to represent Chicago at the Na- tional Contest at Cleveland, in 1938. The Band is a part of the life of the Com- munity, playing at McCormick and Austin High Schools, the Masonic Temple, at as- semblies, parades and football games. At assemblies the audience never is satisfied, always clamoring for its favorite band numbers. OFFICERS President ................... Elmer Kadera Vice-President ....... ....
