COURSES FOR HO AN BROAD Under the direction of Mrs. Judy Solomon and Mrs. Carrie Lou Gibson, the department offers a four year program which increases in detail each year. In home economics a student will cover such topics as food preparation, home furnish- ings, clothing construction, and home manage- ment. Mrs. Nan Brakebill lectures on Roman history. These fields are general business, bookkeeping, V.O.E., typing, economics, and shorthand. These 'ff f Mrs. Dorothy Kirkland gives that well known look. subjects are taught by Mrs. Dorothy Kirk- land, Mrs. Brenda Graves, and Mrs. Joanne Nelson. In these classes students work hard to achieve their goals of speed and accuracy. All these courses are valuable in the business world. Mrs. Brenda Graves demonstrates typing techniques to her V.O.E. ln his second year at Farragut, Mr. Armand Celentano is continually striving to make the art students more observant of the world around them. Dealing with shadows and different light intensities the students are able to fulfill this goal. The Music Department is under the direction of Mr. Richard Jenkins and Mr. Sam Scarbrough. Mr. Jenkins has now finished his third year at Farragut, leading the band to one surperior and two excellent ratings at the Gadston band festival. Mr. Scarbrough is in charge of the Choral Depart- ment teaching advanced and beginner chorus, glee club and general music. The Music Department has had to expand to meed the needs of a large student body. 25
