Sl IDRS 'l ELIZABETH IOSIE COOK PHILLIP MILTON COOKE LACY FORE CUMBEY Betty Io Phillip Lacy Our football team was undefeated for the first time in 25 years and we had our first victory over Crewe in 17 years!!! By '51 we held the rank of Sophomores, and we were old veterans at FHS. Now it was our turn to cast an eye down at the energetic Eighth Graders, who seemed to be getting shorter every year for was it just that we were getting a wee bit taller? ?l We organized classes for the first time - Johnnie Harwood was our President, Renny Kennedy, Vice-Presidentg Elizabeth Stimpson, Secretaryg Tommy Clark, Treasurerg and Phillip Cooke, S.C.A. representative. English saw us acting Julius Caesar and in biology we cut up frogs. Some classes !The Focus was reorganized under the sponsorship of Miss Jean Collins. Sl IDRS W 53 FLORENCE MARIE BOWMAN IAMES WESLEY BRADSHAW, IR. ELIZABETH ANN BRIERLEY Florence Jimmy Ann Remember that day in September, 1949, when we timidly set foot in Farm- ville High School for the very first time as students? We came in full force toog there were over 90 of us. We were divided into home-room groups, and we made many new friends with StL1d61'1'CS from all over the county. Remember those crowded lockers with every- thing from band instruments to gym shoes packed into them! Speaking of crowded situations, we practically had to walk down the hall sideways on the second floor to get to classes. A The Freshman year ushered us into a choice of classes - and soon we could be found struggling over Latin verbs and graphs and symbols in Algebra 1. 5 X Sl HIHS MARY ELAINE GARRISON NANNIE LOU GILLIAM GRACE EVELYN GOIN Elaine Nan Evelyn Really, we reached importance in our .Tunior year. Our class officers were: President, Johnnie Harwood: Vice-President, Betty .To Cookg Secretary, Marie Shepardg Treasurer, Phillip Cooke, and S.C.A, representative, Sue Hudson. These officers and members of our committee served very capably. Class rings were ordered - the annual staff as usual went around begging us to purchase the biggest and best yet. Football season came and went by quickly. Our boys basketball team captured the district III championship AGAIN by route of an undefeated season. Then came those wonderful plans for the Junior-Senior Dance! Can you recall all the paper flowers and lattice work? Remember Al and his gang struggling with that 30 - foot May pole ?
