016,44 oqddfdfty Si Uffccewi ln September, l950, one hundred and thirty three enthuslastlc, hugh spnrnted Freshmen answered the call to classes Although sllghtly bewildered and perhaps dlslllusloned at the start, they qulckly adlusted to the humlllatlng taunts ofthe Sophomores and the humble social status which all Freshmen are obliged to accept Nevertheless, this hardy troop pitched rlght Into their work and actlvntles elected an energetic slate of officers headed by Alan Alesander, and pre sented their furst dance ofthe year, lnlun Summer , which was closed to the best of the school They sold refreshments at the Berkley basketball game and wlth the proceeds presented The Last Round up Thus brought to a close the socval actlvntues of a happy eventful school year As sophomores they sold at two basketball games and nn February, l952 gave the annual Valentine dance, Hearts Content An enormous crowd turned out for thus event, lnlectlng new life mto an anemnc treasury and brughtenmg pro- pects for an all out J Hop In the comlng year Came the lumor year and the long antlcrpated J Hop, Manhattan Premlere Thanks to the unstmtnng hard work and cooperatxon ofthe commrttees, thus dance was a huge success As Aprul rolled around the theatrical talent ofthe class blossomed forth rn a rub-tlcklnng comedy Arsenuc and Old Lace , which was selected as the .lunlor Play A receptlon honornng the departung Sennors closed the season s actlvutues on a sentlmental note wnth warm farewells and best wishes In September, 1953 those once tumld Freshmen returned as the dngmfued over lords of a brand new school Even they, themselves, were somewhat abashed at the new found respect and authonty which they seemed to command ln November the class thespoans added to theur last of achueverrents with an admirable performance ofthe dramatrc Senior Play, Magnufr cent Obeses snon The Holly Hop , presented lust before the Christmas holidays, set the scene for a loyous vacatnon Lost Atlantls , the Senior Prom, came on May l5, a grand climax to the socral whlrl of another year The theme was carrned out wlth an underwater csty Clark Wlllnams orchestra provlded the muslc An excurslon by boat to Mackinac Island and Chicago wlth return by raul was the Trip Club choice for the fmal get together before graduatlon Following the tradrtnonal Swrng Out and Baccalaureate Servlces, Commence ment was held on June 'I7 and once more the Class of 54 stood on the threshold ofa challenging new adventure CLASS MOTTO Unlted to learn, departed to serve CLASS FLOWER Red Rose CLASS COLORS Light Blue and Dark Blue quid.: Presudent V Presndent Secretary Twosure, Tom lsley Joe Petty Nancy Peddle Mary Mccqchen
