Pllors SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS ' Jim Yuill--President, Fern Smith--Treasurer, Nancy Isley--Secretary, Vince Stock--Vice President 0. HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF 1951 We merry Freshmen walked into Farmington High school with the enthusiasm, am- bition, and big ideas which all Freshmen possess. We began fulfilling our ambitions by giving a get-acquainted dance in the fall. Later we honored the Seniors of 1948 at a dance entitled Farewell Fantasy. In the fall of 1948 our class entered its Sophomore year at Farmington High. We gave the girl-bid Sady Hawkin's Day Dance which was decorated withmany unusual Dog-Patch characters. In February of our Sophomore year, we gave a very different type of dance entitled The Heartthrob. This dance celebrated the annual Valentine's Day. In order to increase class spirit and financial status, we sold Falcon pins. During basketball season, our class sold pencils with the game schedule printed on them. I Under the guidance of Miss Virginia Carley, Miss Wilma Brandenburg, Mr. Tarmo Maattala, Mr. Robert Hutton, and Mr. Dennis McCarthy our Junior year at F.H.S. was a very successful-one. The gym was beautifully decorated for our J-Hop, Winter Wonderland, and was enjoyed by all who attend. Our class proudly presented the first Junior play to be given at Farmington in six years, and The Perfect Idiot entertained all. To complete our Junior year, our class played host to the class of 1950 at the 'Fu- turistic Frolics. We Seniors started our last year by giving a dance called the Sa1t and Pepper Shake. Next on the list came our Senior play, January Thaw, on November18g it also can be added to our book of successes. A trip club was formed again this year. It was decided that we would take a boat trip to Mackinaw Island via the Soo Locks. In February we gave another dance, which was verycleverly done with Panf0mim9 as entertainment. Blossom Time was the theme for the prom given on May 19. The gymnasium was brightly decorated with many spring flowers representing a beautiful garden in the Spring time. Jimmy Stevenson and his six piece orchestra supplied the very dancible music. Swing -rut, a tradition carried on from year to year, was given as we Seniors made our first appearance in caps and gowns. It was followed by a reception given bythe Juniors. Baccalaureate was held on the Sunday before graduation. Thursday, the fourteenth of June, Commencement Exercises were held.
