Basketball lnchvlclual ' I CAPTAIN VAN PELT ' i FORWARD Ned, our 'fighting captain! H.e has led us on for his second season. On the floor, he is a streak, and a tireless one. His specialty is intercepting I Q I passes and breaking up the enemy's plays. He seems to have an uncanny I l sense of solving an opponent's play. His feints always delight the onlookers. All Aggies will mourn his loss. i I ' I 1'liEl!!!i!E5UEE2QUlll!EHElHlUNiHEiEHHlIlKEstattfffs-ezeimg KGLLMAYR . GUARD Kolly is another veteran who has added a great deal to the power of the Aggie team. He was high scorer throughout the season. Many a game '5 was won due to his excellent marksmanship. Give Kolly the ball, within a 5?-i certain distance of the goal, and he could be counted on for two points. VVhen 1 he graduates, the team will lose a man hard to replace. .1 PQLLET CENTER P or b th on the offensive 'md defensive oop proved to be a strong man, o C . y He worked well in his position, and featured in starting our plays from the ' tap-off. His size and aggressiveness were a material asset under the 6116111335 basket. His place will also be open next year, but men like him are not easily found. They haven't failed to leave their mark on the ambi- tious students who participated, and perhaps future upholders of the Aggie Colors for dear old Nyssa. ' The inter-class games have served to fulfill the desire of all the classes- only a crack at the other class in fair battle on the court, and let the best team Win. It gave vent to that glowing spirit of rivalry, and it sure was put in practice. Who can say it was not a pleasure to- watch a struggling mass of would-be ball players, piled four deep on the floor, scrapping for the ball, which vvas calmly parked alongside, indifferent to their pleading. Who can say it did not create sportsmanship, encourage fair play, no matter how great the desire to win, and last but not least it was a healthful recreation. Having served their purpose, and fulfilled the desire of every undergraduate and senior, nothing remains, but to bid success to all the teams, in the remaining games to be played, and chalk off the standing of the teams to date. C FRESHMEN VARSITY The Class of '24 congratulates the members of this team, and the mem- bers of the Class of 'Z6,'who sincerely endeavored to extend their prestige on the court to the local high schools. Defeated in all their starts, not for the want of peptand that spirit to win, but by the sheer superiority of their more experienced opponents, they did well. Lacking and handicapped for practice, they met the situation as best they could, but always put up their best from the first to the last. That their best was not sufficient is excusable, and again We mention that the spirit which led them in their enterprises is to be highly praised, although the results might have been discouraging.
