The PTA potluck supper featured a discus- sion on What I Expect Out of High School by Harry Farrar and Christene Holloway. These were chosen from the entries of the twelfth grade English classes and were sponsored by Ingram Bullard. A check for five dollars was awarded to both of these students. Others assisting in the presentation of the play are, seated, Jean Lamprich, Sonny Auger, Brenda Tucker, Johnny Norris, and Mary Pace. Standing, Gayle Pinckard, Mickey Cole, Christene Holloway, Donald Acree, Buster Nolan, Nancy Connally, Robert Reagen, Winona Gates, and Curtis Nyegaard. GI ,I I Speak for Democracy Frances Read was the winner of the essay contest entitled I Speak for Democracy. The contest was open to any student in the eleventh and twelfth grades. The senior play, Quit Your Kidding, will be put on this year by the following: Mrs. Kemp fdirectorjg seated, Brenda Anderson, Linda Black, Bonnie Nolan, Carolyn Farley, and Carol Joyce Waller. Standing, Sue Odom, Harry Farrar, Ruby Farrar, Paul Palmer, Rodney Harper, Gary Cobb, and Joe Dexter Albritton. Senior Pla Y Talent Show The pep squad talent show was enlivened by this group of girls who imitated each of the first string basketball boys and the coach. Posing as they said cute little rhymes about each one are Katie Ann Laster, Jerry Tettletong Patricia Robison, Emmett Silmong Lita Tugwell, Joe Dexter Albritton: Jeanette Long, Curtis Alleng Phyliss White, Kirby Morrisg and Mitzi Baughman, Coach Bankston. -

Similar trophies are presented to the outstand- ing players each year. f 2, 1L, , :,wE I 'S L, 5 4 Head football coach of Northeast State College in Monroe, Jack Rowan, gave an informative talk concerning what college expects of the student, espe- cially athletes. Football Banquet FHA Ronald DeLaney, pastor of the Second Baptist Church, was asked to be the guest speaker at the January FHA meeting. He accepted and gave a very inspiring speech on the theme Family Unity. The football used in Homecoming tilt, which was signed by team members and coaches, is shown off by captains, Joe Albritton and Harry Farrar, and coaches, Bankston, Albritton, and C arpenter. it

Mrs. Sadie Farrar, absent from the banquet because of illness, was honored with a beautiful plaque awarded her for outstand- ing work in the 4-H Club. She was first place winner in the State Alumni Recogni- tion contest. Shown at the speaker's table is Mr. Peter T. Lannan, local represent- ative for Olin Matherson Chemical Corpo- ration. Mother-Daughter Tea A large group of mothers and daughters attended the lovely Mother-Daughter Tea, given by the home economics stu- dents. Here they are shown as they chat with each other while enjoying the delicious refreshments which were pre- pared by the girls. 4-H Banquet - 1960 The Farmerville 4-H Club held its annual banquet February 10 in the high school cafeteria. The theme carried out through beautiful decorations was Keys of Love, since it was so close to St. Valentine's Day. Mr. C. R. Kates, representative from the United Gas Company, presented the club 8630 and a framed certif- icate for winning second place in the district for Best Community Award. President Henry Malone received it. ...Q The senior club presented the junior and senior local leaders with lovely gifts in appreciation of their untiring efforts during the year. Proudly showing these off are Mrs. Johnston, Mrs. Dillard, Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Edwards, Mrs. Rabun, Mr. Nolan, and Mrs. Meeks, who received Mrs. Far- rar's gift in her absence. Henry Burk Malone presented the gifts on behalf of the club. Trying to choose from the attractive variety of sand- wiches and cookies displayed on the beautifully dec- orated tea table are Lynn Baughman, Linda Upshaw, Mrs. R. H. Upshaw, Mrs. Sam Hartman, Jr., Gay Mitchell, Mrs. Gertie Mae Mitchell, and Mrs. Ol- lie Nolan, Jr. , Christene Holloway, FHA president, presided at the punch bowl.
