Homecoming Specialties The Homecoming parade is off to a good start with the smart FHS band and majorettes in the lead. The alumni of the Class of 1939 enjoyed the supper given by the FHS band on this, their homecoming. The women, left to right, are: Ocile Yevick, Evelyn Washam, Eloise Beckham, Christine Phillips, Janet Davidson, Patty Guier, Marjorie Wade, Marilyn Ludwig, Mattie Lee Armstrong, and Lois Anderson. The men are G. L. Phelps, Bryson Albritton, I. C. Williams, Sidney Reech, Ir., Carnal Kelley, Burvil Taylor, Theron McVicker, Don Kennedy, Robert L. Howard, and Charles Lee Barr. The intermediate band, already a part of FHS spirit, is shown as it marched in the parade. This group was under the leadership of Linda Clement during the parade. Shown here is the Brownie float which was decorated in the organization's colors of brown and gold. This beautiful float won first place in its division. 35

Brenda Anderson depicts the hope of the entire student body as she 'tames a tiger. This entry, submitted by the FHA, won first place in its division. TRADE SCHOOL This beautiful float, entered by the kindergarten, won first place in its division, also. A very color- ful theme, Round Up Time, was carried out. 34 Homecoming Parade The senior float, although not winning a prize, was very appropriate for the occasion. Ring in victory, ring out defeat was the sincere hope of every FHS'- er. Reading from left to right, the seniors are: Mary Pace, Leonard Miller, Joe Davidson, Alva Dumas, Betty Craighead, Sue Odom, Nancy Connally, Curtis Nyegaard, Linda Black, James Taylor, and Virginia Cox. The trade school entry is shown here as the chained tigers look upon their superiors. The rival team should know better than to even try to beat the Farm- ers from now on! This was the first-place winner in the car division.
