The cheerleaders broke in football season with a rollicking yell. Everyone seemed to enjoy the festivities immensely, and each person went home with hopes of a victorious season. Union Parish Fair - '59 At the Union Parish Fair, held October 21-24, every school in the parish was invited to enter an exhibit. The theme of this one was the Golden Anniversary of Farmerville High School. This booth received eighty-five points, which was the highest number of points received by any school. The theme was of interest to every- one. Bonfire A burst of flames came to rest atop the brilliant face of Miss Flame, Carol Joyce Waller. Joe Dexter Albritton, co-captain of the football team, crowned her. A shining spark shed its light from atop the head of Miss Spark, Christene Holloway. Harry Farrar, co-captain, crowned her. The bonfire sparked the spirit of every fan of the Farmerville Farmers. Majorettes Mildred Neal, Sharron Eldred, and Pat Robison presented a dance routine while Miss Flame and Miss Spark looked on. fubksiwvugivm 1

Brenda Anderson depicts the hope of the entire student body as she 'tames a tiger. This entry, submitted by the FHA, won first place in its division. TRADE SCHOOL This beautiful float, entered by the kindergarten, won first place in its division, also. A very color- ful theme, Round Up Time, was carried out. 34 Homecoming Parade The senior float, although not winning a prize, was very appropriate for the occasion. Ring in victory, ring out defeat was the sincere hope of every FHS'- er. Reading from left to right, the seniors are: Mary Pace, Leonard Miller, Joe Davidson, Alva Dumas, Betty Craighead, Sue Odom, Nancy Connally, Curtis Nyegaard, Linda Black, James Taylor, and Virginia Cox. The trade school entry is shown here as the chained tigers look upon their superiors. The rival team should know better than to even try to beat the Farm- ers from now on! This was the first-place winner in the car division.
