Fifth Grade Activities The subject of much interest in the WEEKLY READER was Operation Deep-Freeze. As these students in Mrs. Ham- monds' room paused in their discussion for the location of Antarctica, this scene was taken. 'la The children of Mrs. E1liott's room are work- ing in their language workbooks. They are finding that the books are a valuable aid in learning word usage, punctuation, and other skills. These students in Mrs. Rabun's room are look- ing at the pictures they made by pinch tearing old newspapers. This kind of picture making was brought about by a discussion of Thanks- giving and of how frugal the early settlers were, making use of materials at hand and wasting nothing.
