How will you react when misfortune falls, Or even when disaster calls? What is the measure you will use When someone brings distressing news? Or, if that news is truly fine How will this affect your mind? What builds you up, or tears you down? By what prejudice are you bound? It's not the outer things that matter- The screaming headlines, the worldly chatter. lt's what's inside of you that counts, When pleasure comes, or trouble mounts. For worldly things are all veneer They don't bring sadness, they don't bring cheer. But deep within your heart and soul Lies all you need to reach your goal. So fill your mind with the highest Ihl.l'1gS And see the happiness this will bring. For what's. inside you will come out, The deeds you do will leave no doubt. SUPERINTENDENTS MIBSAGE A yearbook records history. But it cannot reoord the spirit of our school, all that elusive something that m akes Farmersville different from every other school and gives it a flavor all its own. Every good school should have such a distinction. 1 would record, therefore, with overflowing grat'tude, a bit of the spirit of Farmersville - the friendly gr ting of students and faculty as they meet in school, our cap city of working together, our wholesome sense of God's pi-esence in our corporate and individual life, our loyalties and en- thusiasm and willingness to tackle hard tasks. Farewell, ambassadors of Farmersville, whereveryou go. For in your achievements and your contributions, en will judge and record the success of our school. Good luck to all and may Godbless you as you st ive for success from the knowledge you have gained. Best wishes Y MR. Mrs. McNel1y and Mrs. Osborn were there to greet the smiling faces of the fifty new first graders who were entering the doors ofFarmersvi11e School for the first time. Eighteen of these fifty have completed the entire journey to its end. They are: Glenn Izor, Allyn Ummel, Glen Bowman, Connie House, Doug Ulrich, Jim Moses, Carol Shell, Rich Friend, Billie Erisman, Julia Ferguson, Jim Sholly, Rick Eby, Faye Dale, Beverley Sturgill, Sue Stump, Joan Zechar, Keith Coffman, and John Spacht. During our first year we took a trip to the Swinging Bridge Farm for a picnic. Finally our first year of school was over and we found ourselves entering the second grade with Mrs. Code flater replaced by Mrs. Linderj and Miss Husak awaiting us. Some of the highlights of this year were a trip to the Miamisburg Mound, the Miamisburg Fire Department, the Cincinnati Zoo and the Cincinnati Conservatory. Our third grade teachers were Mrs. Oldfather and Mrs. Dillon. During this year we were enlightened by the new faces of Mike Moyer and Charlie Burris. In the fourth grade we found Mrs. Jacobs and Mrs. Arnold's smiling faces. The main event of this year was a trip to the,Museum of Natural History. We also took part in the A1l Star Game which was the first chance our class had to show its talent. We also put on a play, for the PTA. Connie Brubaker entered our class this year as well as a hula-hoop rage which everyone took part in. The next year we found ourselves in the fifth grade with Mr. Webb and Mrs. Jacobs as our leaders. We took a trip to the Coca-Cola Bottling Company and the Museum of Natural History. Gary Hager joined us this year. After completing our first five years with great success we entered the sixth grad . Mr. Webb and Mr. Montgomery were our teachers. We went to the Auldwood Audub n Center and the Englewood Dam. Betty Boyer, Paul Rehmert, and Richard Lacy, and Tim Alspaugh joined our spirited class. Finally we were ready for the big step up, for we had made it into the seventh grade. Along with it we found the wonders of the top floor and changing classes. We had many new teachers this year which made things very interesting. Mrs. Ledford and her southern accent and Mrs. Gilbert, who was always there to lend a helping hand ar two of the teachers that bring back many fond, happy memories. But this year was a o a time of sorrow, for we lost a devoted teacher and friend, Mrs. Shaffer. But then M s. Nan came to take her place and never again did the class see a dull moment. This year we had a talent show. Dennis Hodson, John Nichols, and Jean Gingerich joined us. The eighth grade was similar to our previous year. -Mrs. Albrecht came to teach Science. Our Freshmen year started off with a bang. We were initiated into high school by the Sophomores and needless to say, we really got a working over. We also won Scho 1 Spirit Week which was an honor, especially since we were the youngest class particip t- ing. Another trip was made to the Museum and Triangle Park where we made a study on leaves for Biology. Joyce Payne and Sherry Smith, joined us this year. The Sophomore year didn't prove to be too exciting, unless you consider losing-a wrap-around skirt while on the playground, exciting! Some of us took a trip to the campaign headquarters of the presidential candidates while others visited the Planetari- um at the Museum. SENIOR Our Junior year turned out to be the greatest year yet. First off, we ordered our class rings. Then we waited for what seemed like forever until they finally arrived. Then the Prom preparations began. Nearly every night someone was borrowing a truck and going out to collect newspapers for our paper-drive. There were also bake sales and any other project we could find to earn a little money. The boys held a car wash and, of course, we can 't forget our biggest project of all- -our candy sale. Everyday someone would buy a candy bar, and everyone would sit around homeroom eating it and gabbing. Of course we couldn't forget homeroom. Sometimes there was that un- forgettable guitar music which we accompanied with our beautiful, talented voices, then again it's something else trying to skate-board in home room--in a skirt! Some- one found out it wasn't so easy. Our boys learned not to play with pocket knives, too fafter a deep cut and about 8 stitchesj. Finally after many hours ofhard work, our Prom was ready. We called it Riverboat Romance , and afterwards there was a trip down the Ohio River. Even if we say so ourselves, it was the most marvelous Prom ever. Pete Derksen and Terri Collins joined us our Junior year. Finally our final year arrived. We had made it to the top, and of course we let everyone know we were Seniors. Bertie Mann joined us this year and two of our Seniors took an extended vacation in Europe before they graduated. We exchanged Senior pic- tures early in the year. Then before long we found ourselves ordering our caps and gowns and graduation announcements. It was all ending so quickly. With the prom and Senior day over, we awaited that final hour when we would no longer be the Senior Class. When the time finally arrived everyone was filled with mixed emotions. There were tears of joy, tears of relief, but even more, tears of sorrow. We had made the journey and we were ready to enter the world as young men and women, but yet we were scared to leave the sheltering walls of the school we had learned to love. Our dear ole' Farmersville years will never be forgotten. GLEN BOWMAN - GLENN IZQR V Pres. pres. CAROL SHELL RICH FRIEND ec- Treas. OFFICERS BETTY LOU BOYER HBH.. The preparation of this book wasn't always easy but we worked together and whenever we ran into any trouble, Mrs. England was always there to help us out. There- fore I would also like to thank Mrs.England for the many helpful hours spent to make this yearbook possible. She was always there when we needed her most and together we accepted the challenge that was set before us. We are now proud to present to you our 1967 Wildcat, with the hopes that it will bring back all the fond memories of the year of 1967 at FHS.
