CLASS HISTORY Four years ago we were Freshmen but t1me passes doesn't 1t'P We probably d1dn't look much l1ke h1gh school students w1th our sm1l1ng faces and carefree ways but we soon learned Our leader was Mr E R Wallace and off1cers were Pres1dent Nancy Thornburg V1ce Pres1 dent Dot Lan1er Secretary Janet Hard1n Treasurer Joyce Pearce Classes began 1n our Sophomore year w1th Mr A M Snapp as our homeroom teacher Our off1cers were Pres1dent Joyce Pearce V1ce Presxdent Ph1l Fowler Secretary Jane Lan1er Treasurer Aust1n Hunt Reporter R1chard Hughes F1ve Sophomores recewed the honor of be1ng tapped 1nto the Beta Club Those were Jane Lan1er Rachel Olson Della Rush Darrell Lass1ter and Mary Mxllmkan W1thafewpart1es thrown 1n for our enjoyment we had a very successful year In 1955 we became Junxors just a few b1g steps from our l1fet1me dream graduat1on Mxss Luc1lle Wxlds was our adv1sor and we elected as class off1cers Pres1dent Della Rush V1ce Pres1dent Jane Lan1er Secretary MaryM1ll1kan Treasurer Darrell Lass1ter Reporter Nancy Thornburg We began at once to work on the Jun1or Sen1or Banquet We to1led day after day unt1l we were sure that our banquet would be a suc cess It took place at the Teenage Bu1ld1ng Apr1l Z 1955 Another ex c1t1ng occas1on1n our Jun1or year was the day we recewed our class r1ngs And then we became Sen1ors It d1dn't seem possmble but lt soon came to be a real1ty when we began the 1mportant dut1es of Sen1ors e chose black and wh1te for our class colors and the wh1te carnat1on for our flower Our motto IS Onward we move success 15 our goal We elected as class off1cers Pres1dent Jane Lan1er Vxce Pres1 dent Rachel Olson Secretary Mary M1ll1kan Treasurer Darrell Las s1ter Mr Robert Allen was our adv1sor Our most 1mportant task was that ofpubl1sh1ng the seventh ed1t1on of 'Far Echoes The annual staff was selected and they began 1mmed1ately to try to make lt the best annual ever Other aCt1V1t1eS dur1ng the year were the Halloween Carmval the turkey supper and the semor play Wh1le these act1v1t1es were be1ng carr1ed out we made plans to go to Washmgton 1n the sprmg Through twelve years of school we have struggled and together we have faced the good and the bad To those teachers parents and fr1ends who have helped us along the way we w1sh to express our s1ncerest grat1tude As l1fe goes on and we move forward each 1n h1s own d1rect1on may we always be led by the strong hand of A1m1ghty God MAR Y MILLIKAN HISTORIAN 17 1 1 ' , . . .
