611155 Hzstvry Four years ago we were a group of twenty nme brlght faced youngsters beg1nn1ng our Freshman year at Farmer H1gh School It gave us a feelmg of d1gn1tyto be 1n h1gh school Yet we were a carefree grouplook1ng for adventure and fun Mr E R Wallace was our adv1ser, and off1cers were Pres1dent, Margaret Hammond V1ce Pres1dent, Jasper W1nslow Secretary,W1lfred Ham mond Treasurer, James H111 Soon after we entered h1gh school,we moved lnto our new,modern,well equ1pped h1gh school bu1ld1ng We were very fortunate to have such a n1ce bu1ld mg 1n wh1ch to spend our rema.1n1ng four years In 1953 we acqu1red the t1tle Sophomores We were happy to welcome seven new students from Tabernacle School and one other student to our class, makmg a total of th1rty two The followmg persons, along w1th Mr Snapp our advxser served as our leaders that year Pres1dent Allen Sm1th V1ce Pres1 dent,Darrell Peacock Secretary Sue Jackson Treasurer, Sh1rley Gall1more Reporter, Darrell Peacock Ten Sophomores were tapped 1nto the Beta Club, a Nat1onal Honor Socxety Those were Lou1se Barrler, W1lfred Hammond, James H111 Joyce Gordon, Margaret Hammond, Sue Jackson, Jane Martm Dar rell Peacock, Jasper W1nslow, and Evelyn Luther Two classmates left us dur 1ng the year Almost before we knew 1t,we were JURIOIS, nearer than ever to our goal of graduat1on M1ss D1x1e Henderson was our adv1ser and we elected as our off1cers Pres1dent, Evelyn Luther VICE Pres1dent, James H111 Secretary Shelby Surratt Treasurer,Darnell Nance Reporter Jasper W1nslow We be gan early and eagerly to plan for the annual Jun1or Sen1or Banquet On Apr1l cas1on was rece1v1ng our class rmgs That year we lost one classmate And then we were Sen1ors It dxdn t seem poss1ble that the eleven years, wh1ch before had seemed to be an etern1ty, could have passed so qu1ckly How ever as we moved down to the front seats 1H chapel and began the trad1t1onal dut1es of D1gn1f1ed Sen1ors , lt became more real1st1c We were both pleased and fortunate 1n haV1ng Er1ka Me1er a German student Jom our class makmg a total of twenty four Sen1ors Enka has added a great deal to our class and we shall always cher1sh her fr1endsh1p We chose l1ght blue and whlte for our class colors, and the wh1te rose for our flower Our motto IS Not f1n1shed Just begun We soon elected our offlcers as follows Pres1dent Darrell Peacock V1ce Pres1dent, Helen Cranford Secretary, Jane Mart1n, Treasurer, James H111 Reporter,Evelyn Luther Mrs Inez Hussey was our adv1ser Our 1n1t1al task was that of pubhshmg the sxxth 6d1t1OH of Far Echoes The Annual Staff worked t1relessly and falthfully to make what we trunk wxll be the best ed1t1on yet of our yearbook Plans for a Thanksgxvmg supper, our tr1p to Washmgton 1U the spr1ng the Sen1or play, and graduatlon kept us busy For twelve years we have shared our Joys and sorrows Fr1endsh1ps have been formed wh1ch w1ll surv1ve through many years Our hearts are saddened by the thoughts of part1ng Yet we must look to God and face the future unafra1d To those teachers, parents, and fr1ends who have lent us a helpmg hand, we shall forever be grateful As we part, each to h1s prospect1ve goal we are aware of our 1ndebtedness to our school, wh1ch has been an 1mportant mllestone 1n our cl1mb to success We shall cont1nually strxve to repay th1s debt by our serv1ce to our fellow man and to our Lord E v elyn Luthe r H1stor1an . . - . . .
