N Senior team tri-captain Cindy Pugh goes up to retrieve an offensive rebound Girls B-Ball Finishes 11-65 Team Loses Five Seniors The reason for our good season was balance between players, team work and the fact they could work well together, stated Sue Hann, the 1977 girls basketball coach. The Bruins ended with an 11-6 record and third in the Southeast Regional Tourna- ment held in West Fargo. With five returning letter- men, all of whom balanced the scoring scale, the girls de- feated their first four oppo- nents, including West Fargo, who was ranked in State at the time. They then fell to un- derdog Wahpeton in an upset. Coach Hann came to the team with the theory ln order to win a ball game you have to have a good defense. Without it your chances are slim. The girls finished the regular season with a 9-Sirecord, and went into regional tournaments seeded second. They defeated Wahpeton, but lost to Shanley. Senior Cindy Pugh led her team as leading scorer, and junior Ronda Nesemeier was the leading rebounder. Lisa Breiland was on top of the team in free throw percent- ages. Pugh, Breiland and Carla Wetjen were chosen as tri- captains for the year.
