A student compiles data on a computer which is located in the Math Resource Center in Room 325. Department Chairman Milo Benson helps a student with her algebra problems during class. Tomorrow's assignment will be as follows as Carol Rustad writes the details on the board. Consumer Math, Dennis Kalpin, New in Math Addition of a class and a new member highlighted the year in the Math Department. Con- sumer Math was the course be- ing offered while Dennis Kal- pin arrived at South replacing Rose Hecomovich at teaching albegra and geometry classes. Ms. Hecomovich had taught in the system for four years. Carol Rustad who left at mid-term last year returned to her position as an Algebra I and II teacher. The department also received new geometry textbooks which were needed. Milo Benson was the chairman. Math assignments can be real stumpers but freshman Dave Kuebler finds hope from Carol Sorum in the Math Resource Center. Math teachers staff the center all day. thirty-th ree

Mike Rad niecki Becomes New Choir Director Mike Radniecki, an addition to the faculty, became the new choir director replacing Gene Okerlund, who became the dir- ector of music in the Fargo Public Schools. Radniecki came from Redwood Falls, Minn. As in past years, the choir division consisted of a fresh- man choir, girls glee club, concert choir and a pops choir. Senior Don Dahl was elected to receive the National Choral Award. The pops choir received second place in a LaMars, Ia. contest and two ensembles at- tended the state music contest. As a new member to South's staff, Michael Radniecki directed all vocal groups. Rad niecki conducts the girls chorus practice just before the final spring concert.
