Under the leadership of the Art Department, the first annual South High Art In was staged March 13. The commons was converted into a workshop made available to students and faculty. The Art In featured many different types of art media ranging from finger painting to air brush, and painting without the use of hands. There was also a special sitting by james Spence for a very popular Draw the Principal contest won by sophomore john Sorgaard. Another soph Greg Haug was a double event winner. He captured top honors in the Straight Line and Drawing Without Using Hands contests. The art was judged and displayed in various places around South high. Participation ran high, and the Art In in general was considered very successful. .Es Draw the Principal is one of the categories assigned for the first throne to pose for the would-be artists as they attempt to draw the annual Art-ln. jim Spence donned his crown and mounted his ati Q 5 ll ,mx Age has no barriers in the Art-In as junior Mike Herr- mann attempts his original one finger finger-painting. winning picture.
