Lights are important part of any play. Drama Club's 1977-78 year was a successful one. Along with the production of two plays and a musical, the club members sponsored a dance featuring Transit and made a trip to the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. Officers for the 1977-78 year were Mary Knox, president, Sue Cummings, vice president, and Susy Wenz, secretary-trea- surer. Lee Myxter was the adviser for the club. At the Awards Day assembly, trophies were given to Kim Knutson, Best Actress, Don Dahl, Best Actor, Mary Knox, Best Supporting Actress, Rob Schanilec, Best Supporting Actor, and 'Susy Wenz, Best Thespian. Thirteen students were selected to join the International Thespian Society by the members. The Drama Club held a banquet at the Bowler on May 16 to honor the members. Pictured are Kim Knutson, Don Dahl, Mary Knox, Sue Cummings, South High Drama Club's first production was a comedy titled The Curious Savage . The play centers around an elderly lady, Mrs. Savage, who has ten million dollars. Her step-children, finding they cannot get their hands on the money, commit her to a sanatorium. There she meets various social misfits who need the help she can provide. The last scene is a fantasy in which each guest jeff Olson, jan-Marie Strickland, Mike Woolf and Susy Wenz. A vigorous interrogation followed as the next step in the search. realizes at last some hopeless dream come true. The play was set for November 17-19. However, winter storms cancelled the production for the 17th and the 19th. Therefore, only two performances were given: a matinee and evening staging on Friday, November 18. The play was under the direction of Leo Myxter, 'Drama Club adviS0r. Marietta Rasmussen was Myxter's assistant. . , If 'Q . Fw gf, lf?
