The graduates file out of the crowded Civic Auditorium during March from Athalia in '77 Class Graduation opened on Thursday, 4:30 p.m. with the fidhaseintation of the colors bythe South High Color Guard. 376 seniors marched in to the processional, Pornp and Circumstance' ' , performed by the South High orchestra under the direction of Mr. Tim Running, Roger Lee gave the invocation. The choir, directed by Mr. Gene Okerlund, performed two numbers: Gloria , and Times of Your Life . Mr. Ed Raymond, in his last year as principal at South, gave his commencement address entitled The South High Walk-about' '. After the presentation of diplomas, the benediction was given by Kathy Sorensen, seventy-seven

Many fine athletes have put in hundreds of hours practicing and the work has paid off. In this past year, South swimmer Scott Malm had one of the best times in the nation in the backstroke. Malrn signed a national letter of intent to a major university, Minnesota. The Most Valuable Player in football, Jay Weyers, has been named honorable mention on the All-America football squad. Wrestler Gregg Stensgard, winner of the state title, has toured Germany with the AA' squad. Junior Sarah Jordheim is the first South girl to capture the state singles crown. Jeff Stoen, Dave Thune, Amy, Becky and Jed Krieg. The list goes on.
