Temperatures which ranged to 30 below forced cancellation of sledding and the Snow Ball dance. The week began on January 25 with a pep fest. Scott Johnson and Joy Melby were named Snow King and Queen. Other candidates were Rolf Haarstad, Veronica Allen, Doug Linsteadt, Barb Ferguson, Jay Weyers and Cassie Gravel. A broomball tournament was featured that evening with 14 teams turning out. A team of sophomores , the Killers, captured first place with the Junior Birdmen placing second.
