anguagcs Hold art Together South l-ligh's Language Depart- ment didn't go through many changes in '76-77. Student en- rollment in language courses do not change from year to year, ac- cording to Patricia Papacek, head of the department. One special event was a Christmas celebration held jointly for all foreign lan- guage students enrolled at South. The paperback section of South's library has continued to be very popular. Each year a committee of students is chosen by the English teachers to select new paperbacks which are then added to the rest. South's library had a new inhabitant. A cat lived there for a week. His stay was curtailed because of some allergies that he caused among a few important residents of South: students and teachers. Hazel Ylinemi thinks it was truly an exciting experience! Home EC A new course offered this year to seniors was Independent Living. Wanda l-leintzman taught the course that instructed students on things they will need to know for living out on their own. Also new this year is food services co-op work experience. Fran Larson Starts New Courses supervised the 30 students in the class who went out on jobs, were paid regular wages and were given full school credit for their work. The Bruin Boutique was again in operation employing the skills of four sewing students to do basic alterations, custom sewing and to make projects to sell through the new school store in the Commons. Lights and new sewing machines were put in the clothing resource center for students to use at any time.
