Senior Randy Salzwedel shows the style state 180 yard low and 120 yard high which enabled him to take first in the hurdles. He was fourth in the long jump. Track Team Establishes Six School Records Six varsity records were established by the 1977 track team, coached under Mr. Gelaine Orvik. Led by Jed Krieg and Ran- dy Salzwedel, the track team took home a fifth place trophy from the state meet held at Minot. Salzwedel cap- tured firsts in the 120 yard high hur- dles and the 180 yard ! low hurdles. He also finished in fourth place in the long jump. Salzwedel has records in the 120 highs, the 330 yard IM hurdles and the indoor 60 yard highs. Krieg won the two mile run at state, setting a school record. He also took third in the mile. Krieg is a senior. The other records were set by sophs Jim Hewitt and Wayne Briggs. Hewitt ran a 34.1 in the 300 yard dash while Briggs set a record in the 600 yard run. The highest place the Bruin tracksters could accomplish was a second in the Southeast Regional Meet at NDSU. Gelaine Orvik one hundred nineteen

Thune Leads Tennis Team To Second Place In State South's tennis team suffered a narrow defeat in the state meet, losing to Fargo North 8-7 in the finals and having to settle for second place. The golf team was led by seniors Mark Tryhus and Dave Barge, juniors Dave Hentges and Tim Jones and sophomore Scott O'Neil. The highlights of the season included wins in three meets: Lisbon, Valley City and South Region. one hundred twenty Varsity tennis team members are P. Scott, J. Kasdan, D. Norman, J. Leverson, C Emerson, D. Thune, J. Herbst. Leverson and Thune are the only seniors on the team Senior Dave Thune serves during the West Fargo meet. Thune finished first in the Eastern Dakota Conference meet and took second in the state tennis singles.
