R. 1776 PASSED BY SENATE f Each day hrings some such startling new headline, significant to millions ot' people. Yet there are many citizens who do not fully understand some of these momentous hapf penings. mostly for want ot' knowledge concerning the hackground ot' world conditions. A good remedy tor this is to study history, whose purpose is to otier a clearer compref hension of presentfday events hy a thorough study of the past. Coincidence, or not, incoming sophomores tirst take up the study ofthe world in its green stages: from there they steadily progress through the ages as juniors and seniors, tinally halting on the threshold ot- the modern world. By this time the student will have covered everything from the cave men down to the presentfday dictators. The widespread social and economic changes of the past few years have created re' newed interest in conditions atfecting society, The Social Science department otliers excellent outlets for this interest in presenting facts and tigures on these allfimportant topics. To make lvetter citizens is the primary aim ot' all these closely related suhiects. l-lealthy Bodies and Alert, Appreciative Minds Special Departments Continued Physical Education offers a program that builds not only the body but also the mind. Under the present system, which calls for group captains, leadership and mental alertness are of special importance. Along the line of equipment this department has everything from pingfpong balls to parallel bars and can boast of the latest thing in horses. Highlight of the year for the gym classes is the annual exhibition, staged during the second week of April. Performing in front of proud parents, Fargo High students get a chance to display all they have learned throughout the year. An excellent outlet for talent is music, whether it be in the band, orchestra, glee club, or some other organization. More than average ability is required to be a member of any one of these groups, and all who have achieved success in these activities may feel a touch of pride in their attainments. Although many programs are presented during the year by the music department, the most important is the AllfTalent. Every year crowds turn out to view the several performances of this spectacle, which represents much effort on the part of the music and the other contributing departments.
