Much gratitude is due to the boys’ captains Chris Funk- houser, Eric Mello, and Ted Farrell. The captains ably led their mates in competition and training. Dennis Cullinane was the top man on the team and one of the best in the state. Marc Ebenfield, Carl Bohnert, and Chris Ghelfi performed admirably in crucial races. Jeananne Rush contributed ex- perience and some fine racing to the team. Tricia Cullinane and Nancy Callahan acquired statewide reputations in their first season of running. It all added up to another state division title for the boys and a near miss for the girls, who are about to regain their rightful place at the top of the hill. For a crowd of hard working athletes it was a satisfying and rewarding season. 23

Field Hockey 1981 Although not successful in terms of win-loss” record, this team was one of the most enjoy- able I’ve ever coached. Despite in- experience at almost every posi- tion, this team gave 100% at all times; every minute of every game, till the final whistle. I was proud to be associated with these young athletes and the character they dis- played- dedication, spirit, enthusi- asm, sportsmanship, and a never say die” attitude.
