The Way We Were Memories like the corners of mind. Misty water colored memories of the way we were. Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind, smiles we gave to one another for the way we were. Can it be that it was all so simple then, or has time rewritten every line? If we had the chance to do it all again, tell me, would we? Could we? Memories may be beautiful and yet what's too painful to remember, we simply choose to forget. So it's the laughter we will remember, whenever we remember the way we were. i MUSIC MAN Youth is not a time of life — it is a state of mind. Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years. People grow old by deserting their ideals.” Mr. LaRuffa, you will never grow old. Not only have you never deserted your ideals, but you have perpetuated them by sharing them with the students you have come in contact with. You always gave one hundred percent. You stood by your beliefs and forced others to do the same. Many times you may have thought we were not listening, but if we listened, just once, even if it was just for a minute, we are that much wiser and that much more the thankful to you. Cathy E. forgot Marc P. was at a yearbook meeting and she started talking about all the damages she'd done to the Driver's Ed Car. lamie H. painted Anthony L's pinky with nail polish and he didn't take it off for a week. Mr. Stieglitz asked Dana P. if there was any animal in her and Dana said, I'd like to find out. Kathy M., )amie H., and Tammy L. bought Mr. K a new watch for Christmas because his old one clashed with his jewelry. Mr. Topper was late to math class and everyone hid from him. Dora L. threatened physical violence if seniors didn't start paying their class dues. Mindy B., Cathy E., and Tami B. walked to town with their shoelaces tied together. Mrs. Cohen's trig class would change the time on the clock every day. lamie H. and Tammy L. made Anthony L. take Midol for his headache. Mr. Kasofsky always made fun of Kathy M's sneakers because they never matched her outfit. We had a senior lounge but no one ever went there. Tami B„ Nikki C, and Virginia B. got lost at one o'clock in the morning trying to find a backroad to Woodbourne. Mr. Neiderman videotaped himself to see if he really taught as bad as his third period English Class said he did. Mr. Kasofsky's class tried to get a picture for the yearbook and stalled every time someone else walked in. Kathy M. begged Mr. Kasofsky to let her try on his gold diamond ring and he wouldn't because he didn't trust her! 27 Everyone planned out in lanuary what kind of liquor they were bringing on the class trip. 28 Mrs Grossman, our dogs ate our gym clothes!!! I don't want to play!'' Keep going and don't look back REMEMBER WHEN . . . |oe P., Mike O., and Harris B had Mike M so scared after a game with the Ouija Board that he ran all the way to Cathy E's house. Virginia B. always kept Tami B and Nikki C. waiting because she had to see John first. Mr Topper started dancing with his dustbuster when we sang Ghostbusters and substituted it with the word dustbuster. Monique M. broke Mrs. Cohen's graph maker. People tried to throw M M's into Russell I's mouth while he was sleeping on prom morning at |oe P's house. Kathy M. and lamie H were the only two who could read big words in their English class. Carol G. picked on Dana P. in English when we had Ms. Feldman as the substitute. Linda V. was in reading lab and fell out of her chair. ‘Ebony and Ivory “Who, me ” Who spiked the punch? Mr. Hardik talked in syllables. Don A. was positive the door knob on Mrs. Catalano's door was moving and whenever he looked nobody was there. lay W. fell asleep in Mrs. Cohen's trig class and his head crashed down on the desk. Peter M. put dead flies in Nikki C's hair. We got a senior lounge, The South Cafeteria. Marc P. caught Mr. Topper eating his girl scout cookies. “Now Bobby!” Weight Watcher's new diet “Huh? I'm trying to study!” Aren't we cute?” “Finger lickin' good'” 29 REMEMBER WHEN .. . Come on guys, play fair' Bartxzon possibilities? Mr. Denning said there'd been a tragic death in his family and everyone in French felt bad until they found out it was a dog! lamie H. explained what a scooper was to Mr. K. Mr. Beresa made Kathy M. pay a dollar because she wrote her name all over a textbook. )oe P. asked Mrs. Catalano out on a date. Mindy B., Jennie D., and Cathy E. nearly had to push Jennie's car up the high school hill. The girls caught their heels in Monique M's porch on prom night. Mr. Foster always gave us a quiz five minutes before the period ended and it was a ten minute quiz. Nikki C's mom made her clothes. Hardly anyone dressed up for Junior day. Mr. K. told Dana to eat eggshells to make her nails grow. Mr. Topper made a new word. Gazinta. Russell I. invented his own restaurant called Burger Donuts. Linda Y. said, I can't do this. and Mr. K. asked. What, sex? Jay W. watched TV at yearbook meetings. Mr. Hardik forgot he had double-period Biology class. Mr. Duncan always said, Genice and Venoa instead of Venice and Genoa. Marc P's answer to everything was, sounds good to me. Mrs. Rowen told the 9th grade class about Trojans. Mr. Van Vleet called Mindy B and Cathy E. scoopers. Everyone read the notes between Miss Jeannette and Mr Beresa. Toby C. made Mrs. King cry. Pass the Alka-Seltzer Friends forever Rosemary B. had the hots for Brian G. Carol G. said Mr. Topper was odd and Mrs. Cohen was even. Mr. LaRuffa dressed as Santa Claus and gave out Hershey's kisses and pennies. Tammy L. drove 75 mph down the Olympic Hill on the wrong side of the road in Drivers Ed. The chemistry class made esters. The girl's locker room and the gym were 42 ° F. Mr. Duncan called Dora L. Dorca. Mr. Rush told the class that California had fallen into the ocean and Kathy M. believed him! The Bio class dissected frogs and threw them out the windows. Lucky Star The Spanish class made Mr. Cooperman say The plane, the plane. We made the America is Beautiful montage in Mr. Solomon's class. Mr. FJalchak told Hope R to step on the brake and she beeped the horn instead! We were served franks 'n' beans at the prom. Mrs. Catalano told us she was 53 years old.
