While other people are enjoying their noon meal, the members of the High School Orchestra are slaving away in the Little Theatre practising numbers for their next , concert, but we don't mind. In fact we love it! iwe have - tol. The orchestra has shown great improvement under the direction of Mr.'Olson. There have been bigger crowds at our concerts and the orchestra has given better perfor- IHSHCSS Q In past years the orchestra has played at class plays, at baccalaureate and commencement exercises, at musical demonstrations, at U.S.O. benefits, at P.T.A. programs, and once they accompanied an operetta, WCarmelitaW, in 1940. Annual spring and fall concerts have always been given. In 1938 the orchestra made a trip to Bemidji to hear the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, and in 1939 again made a trip to Bemidji to play a concert for students there This year the orchestra gave a fall concert consist- ing of American classics, and gave a spring concert con- sisting of classical music. Plans for a trip to Bemidji on May eighteenth are well under way at the time this article is printed. The orchestra will play a concert for the State Teacher's College and also for the Bemidji High School. This event is awaited by all the members with much anticipation. The highlight of this year was when Robert Elliot, noted conductor of the Chicago Little Philharmonic Orchestra, came here in March to conduct our school orchestra in a concert. The female members will especially remember this event- ----- sigh!!!
