BAND Our most active music organization is our High School Band composed of 44 members, eight of which are seniors. Smartly dressed in their flashy uniforms of purple and gray, they have performed at annual, fall, and spring con- certs, and have taken part in parades. They also played an important part at the football and basketball games when they played pep songs. The band has made several trips out of town---in 1939 they made a trip to the Legion Convention at Cloquet, in 1938 they made a trip to Moose Lodge Convention,at Kewatin, and in 1940 they made a trip to audette to give a concert. This year the band played a concert in the Fort Francis School, the only outfof-town concert. They played a half-hour program over Station CKFI. The Band holds practices bright and early, every morning except Monday, at 8:00 in the Little Theater. Graduating seniors from the school band are: George Polenshq - Clarinet - 2 years Marion Brunette - Clarinet - 4 years Vernon Weum - Clarinet - 6 years Robert Snyder - Cbrnet - 5 years Eunice Darval - French Worn - 5 years Ardath Merrill - Alto Saxophone - 6 years Patricia Thomas - Cello - 4 years Arlyne Evenson - String Bass - 2 years

The orchestra will play a concert for the State Teacher's College and also for the Bemidji High School. This event is awaited by all the members with much anticipation. The highlight of this year was when Robert Elliot, noted conductor of the Chicago Little Philharmonic Orchestra, came here in March to conduct our school orchestra in a concert.
