Student Council 58 The Student Council of Falls City High School started the year by sponsoring a sock hop after a victorious football game. Their next project was sponsoring their annual Homecoming festivities, which consisted of a bonfire, parade, poster contest, coronation ceremonies, and dance following the Homecoming game. Career night was next in line for the members where they served as guides. The Student Council arranged a Christmas program for the school combining the talents of the choral and drama departments. The members also gave the teachers a Christmas gift. The next event for the Student Council was twirp day where the girls got a chance to twirp the guy of her choice. Next was the annual carnival. As many organizations as wanted to, participated in it and the ones that did, seemed to find a profit from it. Dress-up day and grubby day were the next activities for the Student Council. They distributed candy bars and pop to all students and teachers. Student Council held a continuous fund-raising campaign during the year. Light bulbs were sold by members and any other students who wished to. A David Wilson memorial fund was set up by the Student Council and plans are to build a marquee in his memory. Student Council sponsored four assemblies. A wide variety of entertainment was found in these shows, which included a magician, a singing duo, an acrobatic team and an update speaker who talked on the problems of youth today. 59 Grubby Day ! I 60 Sandy Appleoff. LEFT, and Gayle Ankrom, CENTER, were among 50 students from across the state who were presented Gold Key Awards in the 48th National Scholastic Art Awards program. Both works qualified for further competition in New York City. Patrick Bahr received an honorable mention for this entry. Patrick Bahr was named senior artist of the year at the school art show. May 15th, 1975. His entry was purchased by the school and will hang in the school library. This is the beginning of a hopefully successful art collection at the high school. The Varsity record was (8-5) for the season and the Jr. Varsity record was (8-1). There were fourteen girls who participated and twelve of them lettered. At the Peru Invitational this year, the varsity team pulled out a close one against an always tough Tecumseh team. Douglas, was the next team the girls faced in the tournament. Against a team with many years of experience the girls did fairly well. The girls were unexpectedly upset by Nebr. City at the Twin River’s tournament and the District’s tournament this year. All in all, the girls seem to be improving each year. A young freshman team, consisting of 19 girls, seems very promising in the years to come. Along with a winning season of (7-2-1) they also took second place in the 2nd annual Falls City tournament. ROW ONE: Robin Reschke. Cheryl Pyle. Lisa Zinn. Dian Reisner. Junior - Senior Prom The theme “These Magic Moments” paved the way to a truly magic evening, May 10, 1975, when the Junior class gave a farewell Jr. - Sr. Prom for the graduating Seniors. The auditorium was attractively decorated in blue, yellow, and green streamers which hanged from the walls and ceiling. The Junior Class President, Tim Wilson, gave the welcome to begin the banquet, and Marta Prichard, the Senior Class President, gave the response. The invocation was given by Reverend Robert Giles. The meal was prepared by the Junior’s mothers and served by members of the Sophomore Class. The meal consisted of baked ham, baked potatoes with butter or sour cream, corn, hot rolls, water or coffee, and sherbert for dessert. The band that played for the dance following the banquet was “Forte” from Omaha. Sponsors for the event were Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wilson, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Meinzer. 135 These Magic Moments 137 Class Of 1975 Graduation Ceremonies Dr. Ronald Q.
