AN EVENING IN PARIS PROVIDES THEME FOR SWEETHEART DANCE This year’s theme for the annual Sweetheart Dance was “An Evening in Paris.” Concurring with this theme, the cafeteria was decorated in a French atmosphere of silvery stars on a dark blue background. Intensifying this effect was a charming replica of the Eiffel Tower. Throughout the cafeteria many carts of assorted, brightly colored paper flowers could be seen and enjoyed. As usual, refreshments were served, but this time miniature Eiffel Towers with little French flags on top served as center pieces for the tables. The Magnolia Fallston provided the entertainment for the evening with its rhythmic beat. Highlighting the evening was the presentation of the Sweetheart Court presided over by Miss Joanne Crim, the 1973 Sweetheart Queen. Couples dance to the music of Magnolia Fallston. 24

ENGLISH MYSTERY PRODUCED AT FALLS CHURCH 1 i w MWMMi mmL Neil Barrister attempts to comfort his ailing wife. The winter show is always one of the highlights of the year. This year’s show, Carmichael’s mystery “Victoria’s House”, was produced using the theatre in the round. With only four weeks between tryouts to production, the play was a success. The mystery unfolds as Neil tries to slowly poison his bride, Victoria, for her money. He almost succeeded when a detective intervenes and saves Victoria after Neil attempts to gas her, but is led to believe that she died. Finally, the detective spooks Neil with bizarre events that even the ghost expert couldn’t explain. Neil is caught in his own trap as what he believes to be Victoria’s ghost forces a confession of a previous murder that he committed. The light then dims on the suspenseful and exciting mystery. Sgt. Charles Axton makes an effort to work without disclosing his identity. 26
