AN EVENING IN PARIS PROVIDES THEME FOR SWEETHEART DANCE This year’s theme for the annual Sweetheart Dance was “An Evening in Paris.” Concurring with this theme, the cafeteria was decorated in a French atmosphere of silvery stars on a dark blue background. Intensifying this effect was a charming replica of the Eiffel Tower. Throughout the cafeteria many carts of assorted, brightly colored paper flowers could be seen and enjoyed. As usual, refreshments were served, but this time miniature Eiffel Towers with little French flags on top served as center pieces for the tables. The Magnolia Fallston provided the entertainment for the evening with its rhythmic beat. Highlighting the evening was the presentation of the Sweetheart Court presided over by Miss Joanne Crim, the 1973 Sweetheart Queen. Couples dance to the music of Magnolia Fallston. 24

Penelope (Nancy Stoertz) is trying to make her uncle (Gary Johnson) understand that what he heard from upstairs in his bedroom wasn’t a fight, just a friendly argument. The maid (Gail Trask) is trying to make plans with Clive (Eric Britten) for her “night off.’’ CROWDS RAN TO ‘SEE HOW THEY RUN’ The fall play, “See How They Run”, turned out to be a great success this year. The Drama Department worked diligently for three months getting everything ready for opening night. The actors unceasingly practiced their parts, the stage was set up, lights worked out, and all the other little details were perfected for the first production of the year. The audience was kept laughing all evening with the comical events occurring throughout the play. An identity crisis was the critical element of the play with Corporal Clive Winton mistaken as Reverend Toop, who was mistaken as a Russian spy, who was mistaken as Reverend Humphrey, who was a visiting priest. After three acts of humor, the mix- up came to an end as the curtain fell. 23
