National Honor Society The Members of the National Honor Society who have helped to promote scholarship, leadership, service, and character throughout Falls Church. Scholarship, leadership, service, and character are the four basic qualities necessary for a student to be a member of the National Honor Society. Members must also be jun¬ iors or seniors who have attended Falls Church for at least one semester. The purpose of the National Honor Society was to promote enthu- siasim in each of the four qualities of its members. To create interest in scholarship the members tutored students who requested help, recog¬ nized honor roll students, and gave a $100 scholarship to a worthy member. The Easter Seal Drive was the main means of promoting serv¬ ice. The Friday flag salute and the Thought of the Week encouraged the development of character while speaking to the Frosh before elect¬ ions promoted leadership. With Mrs. Romanus as sponsor and an emphasis on scholarship and leadership, the society did its best to contribute to the success of the school year. Bob Bloke posts the latest Honor Roll Students.

I.C.C. The Inter-Club Council is composed of all club presidents. Its main function is to coordinate club ac¬ tivities so they do not conflict. Under the leadership of Glen Geuder the ICC has strived to uphold the by-laws which were drawn up last year. During the early part of the summer, work was begun on the “Green Book . Glen and his committee worked diligently all summer so that it was finished by the first day of the school. Besides publishing the “Green Book, the ICC also issued welcome packets to all new students. These pack ets consist of information on each club at Falls Church. The ICC has done much this past year to futher the relations between clubs. National Junior Honor Society The members of the National Junior Honor Society who have followed in the steps of the National Honor Society by helping to promote scholarship. The National Junior Honor Society, patterned after the National Honor Society, is composed of ninth and tenth grade students with a B average and no grade below a C . To promote interest in scholarship, the National Junior Honor Society tutored students who requested help, and helped to organize an honor society at J.G. Whittier Intermediate School. The society also served the community by raising money for Higher Horizons, a day care center. This was accomplished by selling handmade stuffed animals and holding bake sales.
