This past year the SCA has seen new projects as well as having surpassed records set in old projects. The first project of the year, Freshmen Orientation, proved very successful. Conducted as usual, but with more exhibits, the night proved enlightening for the Frosh. The week of becoming acquainted with the school ended with the SCA sponsered Welcome Dance. September brought the Magazine Drive and a $3400 profit. Class jaguars, teen pens, dream pets and class competition helped to spark the interest which afforded the SCA its large profit. In December the annual Canned Food Drive was again held. This year we challenged Stuart in order to get everyone to contribute. We collected over 9,000 cans to beat Stuart. January was the scene for a new project—the paper back book drive for the soldiers in Vietnam. Although it was the first time for such a project, the SCA faired well Freshmen Orientation. by collecting over 400 books. In February the annual Sweetheart Dance was held in the most unusal atmosphere ever— Illusion . By the use of parachutes, weather balloons, and effective light¬ ing, the SCA was able to provide an enjoyable dance for Falls Church. March was a busy month for the SCA. The first part of the month found the SCA working to raise $200 for Brazil ' 67. This project consisted of equipping a school in Cacimbas, Brazil. By using the same idea as last year, The Chain of Friendship , the SCA was able to raise the necessary funds. The last part of the year was spent holding elections for SCA and classes. Under the leadership of Ed Pauly and the guidance of Mr. Valotto, the SCA has been successful in accomp¬ lishing all the goals it had set. Faculty boosts spirit of the Magazine Drive.
