Through English Mrs. Judith Anderson English I; Journalism Learning to express ourselves, stimulating our imaginations, and exploring the vast store of in¬ spiring literature—these are the demanding goals of the English Department. Study of grammar forms and enlargement of vocabulary are two of the ways by which our ability to communicate with others is perfected. Reading and understanding the novels of Cooper or Hardy, the thought-provoking dramas of Sophocles or Miller, the poetic treatment of Whitman or Wordsworth increase our apprecia¬ tion of life and literature.
