Pat and Ron say they could not have done it without the excellent coaching of Mr. Allen. The school winners in other divisions were: Public Speaking, Ken Collis and Michele I Taney; Prose, Alan Ilockett and Linda Loughton; Poetry, Iloy Steele and Claire-Lise Woringer; Spell¬ ing, Susan Flynt. Endless counting the click as the announcement comes on The few moments filled with expectation, wonderment, Who will be queen? Then you know! Questions begin to flood your mind ‘Where will I get the money? I wonder if he will invite me? I hope I don’t have to wear the same old rag? problems all solved somehow Decorating the day before in bluejeans, pincurls, with miles of crepe paper masking tape, too few ladders The Dance organdy, bow ties, corsages frothy gowns, blaring band The question remaining How late is late? Homecoming Court and Weekend Page 1 1 0 How thrilling and exciting to see the escorts driven onto the field and then the moment we had waited for: Our Queen, Pat Finley, arrived and Mr. Mason pre¬ sented her the gold football. The game was overshadowed only by the dance. Pat, with her escort, Cadet Harry Woodward ’57, were truly a regal couple. The whole weekend was one we are not likely to forget. Page 1 1 1 Sweetheart Court I ‘ I I Who will be elected Sweetheart Queen? Was there really any doubt! Of course we all knew it would be Nancy Borel. If there were any doubts, they were dispelled on the night of the Sweetheart Dance when Nancy, dressed in white organdy, hold¬ ing her bouquet of red roses, and surrounded by her attendants, reigned over the whole wonderful evening. | The decorations for the Sweetheart Dance were a real production. The Dianes Stuart and La Ferriere had designed and executed them with the help of many others on the SCA. This tremendous fund-raising project helps to finance the two generous $250 scholarships that go to the top academic senior boy and girl for the 1958-59 year. What an event it was! The White Elephant booth with record albums for twenty- five cents; the dart throwing and jelly bean contest; the magician and other acts in the auditorium; card party; and many others. The Senior Class proved that seniors are not always lagging in fund-raising. Chuck Liefbried and Dodi Dillard were elected King and Queen. The beaming expressions of their faces after the ‘crowning’ were almost as much fun to see as the whole evening’s entertainment.
