Falls Church High School welcomed back its 1951 Sweetheart, Kitty Sue Lee, who crowned the 1952 Sweetheart, Carol Schoolar, at the annual Sweetheart Dance. 1 hrough a satin draped heart the Court and Oueens moved in procession to the music of “Sweethearts,” sung by Miss Marjorie Green. The Sweetheart Dance, long since a tradition at Falls Church, was well attended by both students and alumni. Page 14

ASSOCIATION The Student Council Association of Falls Church High has endeavored to serve the student body and to work constantly for the welfare of all. Under the leadership of Rashid Abdu, many outstanding activities have been sponsored this year. Among these are the savings bond program, the magazine drive, the adoption of a workable honor system, the annual Sweetheart Dance, and the publication of the student handbook to famil¬ iarize old and new students alike with the high school. An added asset to the Council this year has been the Senate, organized to expedite the work of the Student Council. The Student Council Association has been an integral part of the life at kails Church High School this year and through it, a genuine spirit of cooperation has been encouraged. Page 13

Second row: Virginia Grille, Sara DcGroot, Diane Christopher, Eileen Johnson, Shirley Fortier, Gloria McGillis, Sheila Schnack, Freddie Schauss, Helen Merritt, Marlene Rives, Shirley Shelton, Earlene Intolubbe, Kaye Irwin. Third row: Sidney Lineker, Ronald Herring, Phil Kautt, Byron Tucker, David Johnson, Bill Guiffre, Chuck Freed, Don Moulds, Neal Ferris, Rashid Abdu. The National Honor Society is an honorary organization whose main function is to promote scholarship, leadership, citizenship and service among the students of the high school. The Eliza¬ beth Ann Clem Chapter, an active chapter in the county, affords to some worthy Senior a scholar¬ ship of $100 for outstanding work. This organization is open to only Juniors and Seniors who have grades of G” or above and who have at least ten activity points. Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors a student can attain while in high school. Mrs. Harriet Hurt has been with the National Honor Society from the beginning seven years ago. She has seen the name of the society change three times, from “Falls Church Chapter” to “Eta Alpha Kappa” and now to “Elizabeth Ann Clem.” She has been a vital part of the society and has filled her position as sponsor capably.
