We had last year's book criticized by Dr. William H, Taft from the University of Missouri and we used many of his suggestions in order to bring our annual up to date and. make it a contemporary book that we can be proud of. We hope that the changes have made our book more enjoyable to read, easier to look at, and bring back many happy memories in years to come. M I I SEATED: President, Gary Griffeth. STANDING: Left to Right, Trophy Keeper, Ruth Asheg Secretary, Jeannie Baumg Treasurer, Gail Kettenringg Advisor, Mr. Staufferg Vice-President, Johnny Ospital. The Student Council argued for rooters busses, sold Student Body Cards, approved food sales, Sadie Hawkins Day, and had a Christmas program. They helped send some students to the Student Leader Conference at Chico. The council planned and carried out the election of next year's Student Body officers, LEFT TO RIGHT: Rita Myers,Secretaryg Tim Tennis, Vice-Presidentg Betty Mitchell, Treasurerg Johnny Ospital, President. :az haag' zawbzd LEFT TO RIGHT: Frank Brown, Secretary Ruby Avery, Vice-President, Norman Badorak P r e s id e nt. The members usually pursue various re- search projects. This year we do not have any Science Fair entrants but last year Norman Meeker took an Honorable Mention award at the Chico Fair. The club also builds equipment for use in the science classes. This year Phillip Dustman built a device for measuring the acceleration due to gravity. We also plan to build some equipment to use in the study of electronics. In the past, members have built a large tele- scope, an Oscilloscope, a Van De Gaff gen- erator, and other valuable equipment. , O O OWJ The T,N,T, Club, TomorroW's New Teachers, has several different activities. It consists of students who have an interest in some phase of teaching and think they might like it for a career. The club meets periodically to discuss various issues and also take two or more field trips a year. This year they visited the Hat Creek School and observed teaching there. Mr. Walters, a former advisor was with us for the trip and demonstrated the use of guidedogs on this trip. Later this spring the club plans to make its annual trip to Chico State College. There the members of the club will meet college students who belong to the California Students Teachers Association and accompany them for their classes for the day. They will also have an opportunity to meet leaders of the educa- tion department and learn about registration procedure and course work required. The other major activity of the club is student assistance to various teachers of the school dis- trict. This is organized through the assistance of the High School principal and the principal of the Fall River Elementary School. Upperclassmen are first assigned to teachers for observation of teaching methods and later actually help the teachers perform various classroom duties. This year officers are: President, Caroline Tyrrellg Vice-President, Rita Myerg Secretary, Sandra Stauffer: Treasurer, Ruby Avery. mmf? maya, MMM- www Qaeda? There are five members in the Pep Band fleft to rightj Roy Helms, Ron Mosher, Gary Hanson, Brice Paris, Floyd Baum. During an absence of one of the members, Gene Shoemaker fills in with his trombone. The Pep Band of Fall River High is composed of five hard working students, Whose main job is to provide music for football games,basketbal1 games, pep assemblies, and pep rallies. They practice during noon hour and after school, and sometimes before pep assemblies. They try to attend as many 'away' games as possible but sometimes find it hard to find transporta- tion. This year Fall River was commended for their music at the Bieber Jamboree. The initials A.V.E.C, stand for Audio Visual Equipment Club. The members of this club learn to operate the audiovisual equip- ment here at the school. They also learn about electronics. The club members see film strips on electronics and the operation of other audio visual equipment. fff exp! During the cold and windy night of our homecoming game, the varsityboys wore three inch black bands around their arms. This was because Homecoming was dedicated to a well liked senior boy, Nicky Parton. He passed away on October 19, 1959, due to a heart con- dition. Although we were defeatedby Trinity 27-0, this score was better than last year's 74-0.
